As CEO, Matt guides and supports a strong team of thinkers and doers dedicated to building and operating the critical infrastructure necessary to support the rapidly accelerating transition to electric vehicles. Under Matt's leadership, Voltera is working hard to make zero-emission transportation a reality – at scale.

Matt comes to Voltera from Rivian (Nasdaq: RIVN), where he was the Executive Vice President of Energy & Charging Solutions. In this role, Matt was the executive responsible for the development and execution of Rivian’s business strategies for residential, charging network (Rivian Adventure Network and Waypoints Network) and fleet deployments, including sales, operations, maintenance, and field service. In addition, Matt’s team led product strategy for energy and charging hardware and software programs and was also responsible for the company’s renewable energy development and procurement activities.

Prior to his time at Rivian, Matt was Chief Commercial Officer at Proterra (Nasdaq: PTRA) where led the company’s brand, marketing, sales, and service activities. Under Matt’s leadership, Proterra led the development of the North American market for battery-electric transit vehicles and built one of the first large-scale fleet charging businesses in North America. Matt’s first leadership experience in clean transportation infrastructure was as CEO at Propel Fuels, a renewable fuels retailer building alt-fuels infrastructure. Matt was also an early investor in the clean energy economy, working in venture capital for nearly 10 years before beginning his executive career.

When he’s not at work building innovative EV charging companies, Matt enjoys outdoor adventures with his family in the mountains of California and beyond. He remains active in the cleantech startup community, including as a mentor and an investor.

“Voltera is in a unique position to really drive the deployment of EV charging infrastructure at scale, and move us forward toward a zero-emission future. It’s why I’m so proud to be part of this team.”
