Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program

Overview of the U.S. DOT Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Investment

About the Program

The Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) grant program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and aims to deploy EV infrastructure along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors and in communities. The opportunity is divided into two programs: Corridor and Community. The second round of funding opened in May, with applications due August 28, 2024. The CFI program offers $1.3 billion in available funding this round, including a set-aside for previously submitted applications under the prior round of the program.

Who Qualifies?

Lead applicants include states, metropolitan planning organizations, cities and other local government entities, U.S. Tribes, U.S. Territories, and other entities. Under the Community Program, lead applicants can choose to partner with a private entity; under the Corridor Program, lead applicants are required to contract with a private entity for infrastructure buildout.
